Measles Cases on the Rise – Protect Yourself and Your Family
Updated On: Mar 11, 2025

There has been an increase in measles cases across the U.S., including Florida, with 223 reported cases nationwide so far this year. Measles is one of the most contagious viruses and can spread rapidly, particularly among those who are not vaccinated.

Symptoms of Measles:

  • Fever
  • Rash
  • Cough
  • Runny nose
  • Conjunctivitis (red, watery eyes)

Prevention is Key – Get Vaccinated

Dr. Villa reminds members that the measles vaccine (MMR) is available and highly recommended. If your child has not been immunized, now is the time to schedule their vaccination for protection. Your Wellness Center currently has the vaccine in stock—call to make an appointment.

What to Do if You Suspect Measles

At this time, we do not offer measles testing. However, if you believe you or a family member may have been exposed, contact your local health department or your healthcare provider by phone before visiting the Wellness Center.

For any questions or concerns about measles or vaccinations, reach out to your provider. Staying informed and proactive is the best way to protect yourself and your loved ones.
